May Volunteer of the Month: Jeanne, the Jill of All Trades
Jeanne is our Jill of all trades, capable of jumping in wherever and whenever she may be needed. Whether it be greeting community members at reception, to assisting folks to ensure they have a positive shopping experience in our Food Market or HOPE Stylin’ Clothing Market, to managing teams to put out a terrific meal during events, Jeanne is a asset whom we cherish!
As is so often the case, Jeanne heard about HOPE House through word of mouth. “I was new to Guelph and a lady on the bus told me about HOPE House, so I thought I’d check it out” she grins. We are so lucky that she did!
Jeanne’s genuine dedication to volunteering radiates from her every action. “I love volunteering because I love to help make a difference. Every time I hear someone say how thankful they are for our help or just see them smile makes me swell with love. I am glad to help.”
Jeanne shares that she has seen HOPE House change lives by helping people get back into the workforce, or giving them a hand up when they are having a rough time.
As we hear so often, though, volunteering has also been integral in contributing to the quality of Jeanne’s life. “In my life HOPE House has helped me so I’m not sitting at home alone and depressed. When I need someone to talk to there is always someone there. I have also gained my self esteem back and I feel good about myself.”
We are so happy that, for Jeanne, volunteering has been such a meaningful experience. In this way, we all win.
